“Metro Manila Won Three Awards” at British Independent Film Awards

Three awards won by Metro Manila to the British Independent Film Awards ( BIFAs ) , held on Sunday evening , December 8 ( December 9 am in the Philippines ) , the Old Billingsgate Market , London , United Kingdom .

The BIFAs considered as the second prestigious and “well – attended awards ” in the United Kingdom , followed by the British Academy of Film and Television Awards or BAFTA .

Metro Manila won the top honor, Best British Independent Film.

The sole director Sean Ellis also selected Best Director.

The film also won for Best Achievement in Production.

Metro Manila, the setting is in the Philippines, is starring Filipino actors John Arcilla , James Macapagal , and Althea Vega .

Metro Manila is the story of Oscar Ramirez ( Jake Macapagal ) brought his family to the city to seek a better life but implicated him in a crime .

Also earned nominations BIFAs John (Best Supporting Actor) and Jake (Best Promising Newcomer) , but they won .

Winning the Best Supporting Actor Ben Mendelsohn was for Starred Up : the Best Newcomer winner will turn Chloe Pirrie for Shell .

Metro Manila’s entry U.K. Best Foreign Language Film category of the Oscars in 2014.

Since the movie victory BIFAs, grow its chance to enter the final list of nominees for the Academy Awards.

Aside from Metro Manila, two other films that deal with the lives of the Pinoy or Filipino character entries in the Best Foreign Language Film category of the Oscars.
