PHILIPPINES: Filipino YouTuber Mary Lite Lamayo went viral after not recognizing the Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal. Dr Jose Rizal was a Filipino nationalist and polymath during the tail end of the Spanish colonial period of the Philippines. He is tagged as the national hero (pambansang bayani) of the Filipino people. An ophthalmologist by profession, Rizal became a writer and a key member of the Filipino Propaganda Movement, which advocated political reforms for the colony under Spain.
On a clip, Mary Lite Lamayo was heard saying, “Hala sino yan? Artista ba yan? (Who is that? Is that an artist?)”. Filipino online influencer Mary Lite Lamayo then went viral after failing to recognize Philippine’s National Hero Dr. José Rizal on a YouTube video titled ‘GUESS WHO CHALLENGE’. A clip wherein Mary Lite failed to recognize Dr. Jose Rizal from the YouTube video ‘GUESS WHO CHALLENGE’ by Amae Coz was shared by a user on Facebook two days ago and quickly went viral. After reaching over a million views on Facebook, The clip seem to have been set to private or deleted by the user who posted it. However, The original video where the clip was taken from can still be viewed on Amae Coz YouTube account.
The clip received a lot of criticism especially to the Filipino people and is receiving more hate because of her ignorance to the Philippine history. Netizens were attacking her and is telling she is not qualified to be called influencer because of her poor intelligence and ignorance to the country history she is living in.
