An earthquake of 8.2 magnitude struck off northern part of Chile on April 1, 2014 at around 23:46:46 GMT, prompting authorities to raise tsunami alert not only to all coastal areas near the epicenter located at 86km (52miles) Northwest of the mining area of Iquique, Chile but also to the neighboring countries.
The quake was felt up to the distance about 470km (290 miles) in the high altitude capital of La Paz and Peru shuddered buildings, cut off some of the main roads outside Iquique because of hillside debris and there have been a power shutdown.
The strong quake was followed by at least eight strong aftershocks after several hours including the 6.2 tremor as per reading by the Geologists.
After few minutes, international news media organization published their own version of report focusing their coverage in Chile quake. Meanwhile, in the social media the Chile earthquake dominates the Twitter trending topics worldwide.
In YouTube, various records of videos were uploaded and immediately went viral after several hours.
